For the first time in Burgas, former alumni of a school created a literary cabinet in memory of their director. The new space in the Professional High School of Construction, Architecture and Geodesy (PGASAG) “Kolyu Ficheto” in the sea town is dedicated to Veselin Pŭynev – the longest-serving director in the history of the school, the school reports.
The new space provides students with a modern environment for creativity and meetings, combining modern equipment with elements from the history of the school and the personality of its long-serving director.
Pŭynev, who headed the high school for more than three decades and passed away in 2023, is described by his colleagues as “the engine, guardian, and moral compass” of the school. “Through this cabinet, we want to preserve the memory of him and for it to reach everyone after us,” commented the current director of the high school, Eng. Daniela Simeonova.
The initiative was proposed by Minka Kyurkchieva – a former student and deputy director of the school – and unites former and current employees, teachers, and friends of the high school. Over 110 donors and volunteers participated in its realization. The overall vision of the cabinet is the work of Eng. Zhaklina Lazova, also an alumnus of the school and a current teacher.
During the official opening of the cabinet, Pŭynev's wife – Margarita – thanked the organizers and urged the students to continue to preserve the spirit of the place.
