The Ukrainian legislative body took an unprecedented step by voting to continue the state of emergency in the country. The parliament approved the presidential decree to extend martial law for another 90 days, which will be in effect until November 5, 2025.
According to the official statement by Deputy Yaroslav Zheleznyak, the legislative act was supported by an impressive 320 deputies, with only one voting "against". This consensus underscores the unified position of Ukrainian political circles regarding the current military situation.
We recall that martial law was initially introduced on February 24, 2022, when the Russian Federation began its full-scale invasion of Ukraine. Since that moment, the parliament has periodically extended the duration of the emergency regime.
The current decision represents the 16th consecutive extension of martial law. While it is in effect, there are significant restrictions on democratic processes - presidential or parliamentary elections cannot be held.
Among the most significant restrictions remains the ban on men between 18 and 60 years old leaving the country's territory, except in extraordinary circumstances. This measure aims to preserve mobilization potential and ensure national security.
The decision was met with silent understanding by the deputies, who recognize the seriousness of the current geopolitical situation and the need to continue defensive measures.
Ukrainian leadership demonstrates consistency in its position, continuing to maintain readiness for potential military challenges and preserving the mobilization capacity of the armed forces.
