The container ship "Yanina" has sunk in the Black Sea following an attack by Ukrainian drones, announced Rosatom CEO Alexey Likhachev, as cited by the BBC.
According to him, the ship was attacked late in the evening on July 31, about 200 km from Novorossiysk. The crew abandoned the vessel after it began to sink, and all 17 crew members were rescued, Likhachev stated.
"This was a perfectly ordinary, peaceful container ship, sailing in international waters and transporting civilian goods - from frozen food to construction and finishing materials," said Likhachev, describing the attack as "piracy" and "maritime robbery."
"Yanina" is a motor ship owned by the logistics company FESCO, which has been part of Rosatom since 2023.
