Friday, October 2: business morning, books and stage afterward

The three days will pass without rain. Mornings are chilly, between 10 and 13 degrees, afternoons reach up to 20, on Friday and Saturday the wind will blow at about 20 km/h, and on Sunday the wind will die down.

Friday is a business day. At the International Congress Center is the maritime innovation forum SPLASH Black Sea 2026. Companies and young businesses, universities, investors and people from the administration all sit down together, and the topic is what is being done along the Black Sea regarding water and maritime business. You go there with business cards, not children.

The Autumn Literary Festivities continue until October 30 and admission is free. On Friday, Lyudmil Stanev is a guest at a creative meeting at the Writer's House on 1 Vola Street.

The same day, the Youth Cultural Center opens "A Stop for Burgas (with the little owl)" by Daniel Bozhkov and his daughter Rosa. The two have worked five weeks in the city, he returning to his childhood here, while for her Burgas is the summer at her grandparents'. Among the drawings there are also poems by Petya Dubarova. The exhibition remains until October 30, so if Friday is busy for you, there's time.

At the NHK Culture House, "Love in the Opposite Lane" is visiting, based on the text by Zdrava Kamenova. Performing are Bogdana Trifonova, Prof. Atanas Atanasov, Evgenia Roeva and Stoyan Doychev, four characters and one question — is there a way back when two people have stopped loving each other. An evening for couples, not for the whole family.

Saturday, October 3: from the Clock to "Troyka"

At 11:00, from the Clock, the parade of the "Chanove" club sets off. Dancers from all branches march through the streets to "Troyka" square, where from 12:00 they are officially presented. There is no competition or ranking, the club is holding the parade for the 17th year because of its birthday. This is the option for parents with children who don't stay in one place.

If you prefer a roof over your head, at 12:00 in the "Toncho Rusev" hall at the NHK Culture House is the concert for International Music Day with 11 students from the music school, all award winners from competitions. Piano, violin, viola, bassoon, trumpet and classical singing, free admission. The two events overlap by an hour, so you'll have to choose one.

Earlier, at 10:00, the Burgas branch of Sofia University opens its fourth academic year at the "Central Park" complex in "Slaveykov", at 2 Dame Gruev Blvd. This autumn the first students of Korean language also begin.

Afternoon by the sea

In front of the "Sea Casino" Cultural Center, until October 31, stand 24 photographs by Niki Dinov of the Burgas Salt Pans, captured at sunset and from a bird's-eye view, printed on large panels. Inside the center is "Spirit and Matter" with Revival-period goldsmith jewelry and prints from the collection of Antonio Vasilev. A little further on, at 6 Demokratsia Blvd, the "Georgi Baev" Gallery shows the 28th edition of "Sound and Color", paintings from plein-air sessions along the coast and in Strandzha, free admission until October 22.

Sunday, October 4: outdoors, while the weather holds

Sunday is the calmest, the wind drops below 15 km/h, and in the afternoon it's again around 20 degrees. A good day for the Begliktash - Maslen Nos eco-trail, 2.4 km between the Thracian sanctuary and the rocks above the sea. Set out in the morning while it's cool, and bring water, there's almost no shade along the way.

For a shorter walk: Veselie Beach at the mouth of the Ropotamo is nearly deserted in early October, while Alepu is a wild beach by the marsh, where birds gather before heading south. The sea is already cold, bring something warm for afterward.

If you prefer inland from the coast, in Karnobat the "Bencho Obreshkov" gallery is showing, until November 24, 100 canvases by Atanas Zhekov marking 100 years since his birth, paintings and graphics from all periods. A few minutes' walk from there is also the "Dimitar Polyanov" house-museum, which makes for another half hour's stroll in the center of the town.
