The traditional Chess and other board games Tournament for people with disabilities dedicated to Bulgaria's National Day, March 3rd, is about to take place. It will be held on February 27th, Friday, at 10:30 AM in the Center for Contemporary Art and Library.

A total of 51 representatives from 4 different social services in Burgas Municipality will participate.

The organizer of the Tournament is the "Social Center Burgas" Association, supported by the representatives of the social services participating in it from Burgas Municipality.

More than 10 years ago, the "Social Center Burgas" Association and the Regional Organization of the Deaf organized the first meeting between chess players from the two organizations. Representatives of the Regional Organization of the Blind in Burgas subsequently joined them.

After a short break during the Covid pandemic, the Tournament was resumed. Users of the municipal social services for people with disabilities were attracted to participate in it. This year's participants include users of the Center for Social Rehabilitation and Integration of Persons with Mental Disorders, the Day Center for Adults with Severe Multiple Disabilities, the CSRI to the "Social Center Burgas" Association. For the first year, representatives of the "Grizhovnik" Social Garden will also participate.

Since last year, a special guest who has distinguished himself with a display of strong will and an unbreakable spirit has also participated in the Tournament. In 2025, this was Mihail Hristov, a para-Olympian and long jump champion, the prototype of the hero in the acclaimed film "Without Wings." And who the guest of honor will be this year, the organizers are still keeping secret.

All participants will receive cups, participation certificates and a small souvenir as a keepsake, as well as treats donated by "Pobeda" AD.
