Success for the Burgas fencing school in Sofia
The young athletes from the "Corsar" Fencing Club in Burgas have recorded another excellent performance. At the international MLADOST CUP tournament held in Sofia, our girls demonstrated high class in competition with 49 athletes from 7 countries.
Lora Ganeva won a bronze medal, and Ralitsa Korseva finished in sixth place in the girls under-12 category.
The path to success
In the preliminary groups, both athletes from the seaside city recorded only victories, entering the direct elimination rounds as the fourth and fifth seeds, respectively. On the way to the final phase, they overcame strong competition from Greece, Romania, and Turkey:
- Lora Ganeva: defeated Theodora Karizani (Greece) and Ana Maria Toma (Romania).
- Ralitsa Korseva: outplayed Laila Kilaf and Kayra Sener (Turkey).
An emotional clash and medals
In the battle for a place among the medalists, the two teammates faced each other. In a contested match, Lora Ganeva emerged victorious, qualifying for the semifinals. There, she conceded to Lidia Zografaki (Greece) and deservingly took the bronze medal.
A worthy performance for the region
The honor of the "Bulgarian Fencing Academy" – Burgas region was also defended by six other athletes: Mihaela Yordanova, Viktoriya Panayotova, Steliana Yordanova, Dariya Ganeva, Yoan Dikov (from "Corsar"), and Rosalin Angelov from "Markeli" – Karnobat.
