Success for the Burgas school at the European Kyokushin Championship
Shihan Gergana Apostolova-Kostova expressed her pride in the excellent performance of the competitors from SKK "Kyokushin Spirit" – Burgas at the 39th European Karate Kyokushin Championship. The tournament took place on May 16 and 17 in Varna, gathering 866 elite athletes from 21 countries.
"I congratulate all our competitors for the efforts made and the spirit shown on the tatami," commented the club.
The medalists from SKK "Kyokushin Spirit":
- Danaya Lana – European Champion (Girls 8-9 years, +30 kg)
- Dobromir Yanev – Vice-champion (Men 45+, +85 kg)
- Yaroslava Prudnikova – Bronze medalist (Junior girls 16-17 years, +65 kg)
- Stratimir Stratiev – 4th place (Men 18-34 years, -90 kg)
Danaya Lana distinguished herself with an impressive performance, recording three victories by ippon in regulation time. Stratimir Stratiev, last year's European youth champion, made a successful debut in the men's category, reaching fourth place in extremely fierce competition.
The event was organized by BKA – IKO Bulgaria, chaired by world champion Shihan Emil Kostov, in partnership with Varna Municipality. A special guest at the forum was Shihan Katsuhito Gorai, Director of the International Department of IKO.
