Bulgarian kickboxing shines in Croatia
Another huge success for local sports! Two young talents from Pomorie – brothers Anton and Stanislav Markov – demonstrated iron will and skill, winning gold medals at a prestigious European kickboxing cup in Croatia.
"Their success is the result of a lot of discipline, hard work, and dedication, proving that Bulgarian athletes are among the best in the world," their loved ones shared.
The road to the top for Anton Markov
16-year-old Anton competed in the K1 style, considered one of the toughest and most complex styles in kickboxing. On his way to the title in the under 67 kg category, he decisively eliminated representatives from Slovakia, the Czech Republic, and Montenegro, finishing all matches with a 3:0 judges' decision.
Gold success for Stanislav Markov
The younger brother, 14-year-old Stanislav, was not far behind. In the under 54 kg category (low kick style), he confidently dealt with opponents from Ukraine and the hosts from Croatia to claim the gold.
- Anton Markov: European and world champion, national champion in Muay Thai and Kudo.
- Stanislav Markov: Two-time international champion and multi-time national winner.
- Coaches: Todor and Tanislav Petkovi (SC "Neftohimik").
The Markov brothers are the sons of champion Marcho Markov and are students at "Ivan Vazov" Secondary School in Pomorie. Their story is proof that with persistence, the peaks in sports are attainable.
