A series of dramatic incidents marked the Burgas region's coastline during the first week of August, with four separate tragedies attracting the attention of local law enforcement services.
On August 7 around 6:30 PM in the picturesque area of Cape Agalina, located between Veselie campsite and Dyuni resort, a dramatic rescue operation unfolded. An 18-year-old Ukrainian woman and a 22-year-old Uzbek citizen jumped from the rocks into the sea but quickly found themselves in a critical situation due to extremely rough waves.
Passing citizens managed to pull the girl out of the water, who was subsequently admitted for treatment at the University Multi-Profile Hospital for Active Treatment (UMHAT) - Burgas with a pneumonia diagnosis. Unfortunately, the man disappeared in the sea expanse.
The body of the Uzbek citizen was found wedged among the rocks of Cape Agalina on August 9 around 9:30 AM, when the sea waves had significantly subsided. A team from the Regional Directorate of Fire Safety and Population Protection (RDPBZN) - Burgas retrieved the body.
The next day, August 8 around 5:55 PM, a report of another tragic incident was received at the Burgas District Police Department. In the Zornitsa residential complex, block 39, a 26-year-old local resident committed suicide by jumping from an intermediate landing. The body was transported for autopsy to the hospital's forensic medicine department.
On August 9 around 7:30 PM, officers from the Fifth District Police Department - Burgas received a message about a dog pulled from the sea. Approximately 300-400 meters from the Royal Village establishment, a large dog's corpse was found entangled in ropes resembling a fishing net.
The same day, a little later, around 8:30 PM, a report of another tragedy was received at the Sozopol District Police Department. A 63-year-old Russian tourist drowned near the sixth post of Harmani beach. The initial examination did not reveal any traces of violence.
Pre-trial proceedings have been initiated in all cases, and the bodies have been sent for autopsy at UMHAT - Burgas. Investigations are ongoing.
