Tragic Drone Strike in Kherson: Two Dead and 16 Injured Among Civilians

A Russian drone attack against a city bus on the outskirts of Kherson caused human casualties and numerous injuries, which prompted an official investigation by local authorities.

A war crime with severe consequences was registered in the morning of August 9 in the suburban zone of Kherson Oblast, when an enemy unmanned aircraft struck a passenger transport. According to official data from regional institutions, the incident caused the death of two people and seriously injured 16 passengers.

Regional Governor Oleksandr Prokudin confirmed that all victims were inside the bus during the sudden attack, which occurred around 08:30 in the morning. Immediately after the incident, the Kherson Regional Prosecutor's Office initiated a pre-trial proceeding for a war crime in accordance with Article 438, second paragraph of the Criminal Code of Ukraine.

The investigation is in an active phase, with prosecutors and police officers continuing to collect and document evidentiary materials about the attack. The institutions are working purposefully to establish the full circumstances surrounding the tragic incident.
