The condition of a 35-year-old woman and her 4-year-old son, who were hit by an ATV in the Sunny Beach resort on August 14, remains critical. The tragic incident, in which a total of six people were injured, has shocked the public and raised serious questions about the judicial system and the actions of law enforcement.

According to bTV, late last night the mother underwent emergency surgery for a severe brain hemorrhage. Despite the surgical intervention, her life is still in danger. The woman is in a coma in the intensive care unit of the Regional Hospital in Burgas. Her child is in the same ward, and their condition is described as serious due to the injuries sustained from the impact.

Details of the incident and victims

The crash, which occurred in the bustling resort complex, resulted in multiple casualties. In addition to the mother and child, four other people were injured, including two other children and an employee of a nearby hotel. Fortunately, their condition did not require prolonged hospitalization and they have already been discharged. However, the focus of attention remains on the critical condition of the mother and her son.

The culprit of the incident is 18-year-old Nikola Burgazliev, a 12th-grade student who only received his driver"s license at the beginning of the year. Despite the severe consequences, he was charged with causing medium bodily harm to more than one person, but was released under a measure of restraint of "house arrest." This decision provoked strong outrage among the victims" relatives, who described it as "scandalous."

Allegations of wrongful acts and doubts about justice

The victims" relatives expressed deep doubts that they would receive justice. Their lawyers have made serious accusations against the investigative authorities, which call into question the objectivity of the entire process. According to the defense attorneys, witnesses have yet to be questioned, camera footage has not been seized, and the most disturbing allegation is that the driver"s alcohol and drug test sample was replaced. The lawyers admit that the initial test was probably positive, but the later sample was negative, which raises questions about the manipulation of evidence.

The situation is further complicated by the fact that the parents of the accused are police officers in Nessebar, which strengthens public suspicions of a conflict of interest and potential influence on the investigation. The police in Burgas have already started an internal investigation into the case, which should establish whether there were any violations in the actions of the officers who participated in the initial on-site inspection and investigation.

Protest and second instance

Tension escalated with the scheduling of a court hearing to review the measure of restraint of the 18-year-old. On Friday, August 22, at 2:00 PM, the Burgas Court will review the "house arrest" decision in a second instance.

In response, relatives and citizens are organizing a protest in front of the Palace of Justice in Burgas, which will take place on the same day, but starting at 12:00 PM. They are calling for a fair trial and a change in the measure, demanding that the accused Nikola Burgazliev be returned to custody to ensure that he is held accountable for the serious act he caused.
