Burgas and the region: a warm, cloudier day with good sea conditions

On June 16, the weather in Burgas and the region will be mostly cloudy but warm, with typical summer temperatures. In the morning, thermometers will show around 19 degrees, and during the day, maximum values will reach about 25–26 degrees. In some parts of the region, short showers and thunderstorms are possible in the afternoon, but along the coast, the rainfall will be more isolated.

According to short-term forecasts for the region, cloud cover will be more significant in the second half of the day, but temperatures will remain comfortable for walking and spending time outdoors. The wind will be light to moderate from the east-southeast, with speeds around 3–6 m/s, becoming more noticeable along the beach in the afternoon hours. It will feel like a warm, slightly humid, but not extreme summer day.

The seawater temperature in the waters of Burgas will be around 21–22 degrees, typical for mid-June. The sea will be slight to mild, with a swell of about 1–2 points, which creates comfortable conditions for swimming and water activities. Thanks to the sheltered Burgas Bay, the water temperature remains one of the highest on the Bulgarian Black Sea coast.

The bathing safety assessment for the main beaches in the Burgas region for June 16 is generally a green flag. Local transitions to a yellow flag are possible during temporary wind strengthening, more pronounced swell, or approaching thunderclouds. Beachgoers should follow the flag signaling and lifeguard instructions, especially in the late afternoon.

Sofia and the region: warm with an increased probability of rain and storms

In the Sofia area, June 16 will bring variable cloudiness and typical unstable early-summer weather. In the morning, minimum temperatures will be around 15 degrees, and daily maximums will range between 24–25 degrees. There will be more sunny hours before noon, but cloudiness will increase around and after midday.

During the afternoon hours, short-term rain showers are likely, in some places accompanied by thunderstorms and temporary wind gusts. The wind is expected to be light to moderate, mostly from the west-northwest, strengthening in areas with storm clouds. Local flooding of road sections is possible during more intense but short-lived rainfall.

Eastern and Western Bulgaria: the west with more storms, the east – calmer

In Western Bulgaria, the day will start with variable cloudiness and pleasant morning temperatures between 15 and 17 degrees. During the day, cumulonimbus clouds will develop, and short-term rain showers are expected in many places, with thunderstorms in isolated areas. Maximum temperatures will be around 24–26 degrees, with a slight cooling felt during more prolonged rainfall.

In Eastern Bulgaria, the weather will be more stable, with a significantly lower risk of precipitation. In the morning, temperatures will be around 18–19 degrees, and daily maximums will reach 26–28 degrees. Cloudiness will be variable, with more sun during the first half of the day. The wind will be light to moderate from the east-northeast, feeling stronger along the coast, but without causing serious problems.

In the mountains: a good start to the day, afternoon thunderstorms

In mountainous regions, June 16 will offer the season's familiar combination of a sunny start and an unstable afternoon. Before noon, it will be mostly sunny, with temperatures around 17–19 degrees at an altitude of about 1200 meters and around 10–12 degrees at 2000 meters. Conditions in the morning hours will be suitable for hiking.

However, in the afternoon, the development of cumulonimbus clouds is expected, especially over the Rila, Pirin, Stara Planina mountains, and parts of the Rhodopes. In many places, short-term but at times intense rainfall will occur, accompanied by thunderstorms and wind gusts on the ridges. It is advisable for tourists to plan longer routes for the morning and avoid high, exposed areas at the first signs of a storm.

Black Sea coast: warmer, slight swell, and mostly good conditions for swimming

Along the entire Black Sea coast on June 16, warm weather is expected with daytime air temperatures between 24 and 27 degrees. The morning will be relatively fresh, with about 18–19 degrees, and during the day, variable cloudiness will prevail with more sun along the southern parts of the coast.

The seawater temperature along the coast will remain around 21–22 degrees, with a slight swell – about 1–2 points. The wind will be light to moderate, most often from the east-southeast, with speeds around 3–7 m/s. In some areas, especially during the passage of cloud systems, temporary strengthening of gusts is possible.

The general assessment for bathing safety along the Black Sea coast for June 16 is a green flag, with likely local transitions to a yellow flag during more pronounced swell or approaching storms. It is recommended that vacationers monitor the flag signaling on the beaches and avoid swimming during thunderstorms or strong wind gusts.
