One person died in a serious crash, traffic on Sofia – Varna road blocked
Gabrovo. One person lost their life in an extremely serious car crash that occurred early this morning on the strategic Sofia – Varna road, near the turnoff for the village of Dobromirka, Sevlievo municipality. The tragic incident happened a little after 5:00 a.m. when a car and a passenger bus collided head-on. The deceased is the driver of the car, whose identity has not yet been announced.
The news was officially confirmed to BTA by the Regional Directorate of the Ministry of Interior in Gabrovo. The collision was with such force that traffic in the area has been completely stopped. Dozens of cars and heavy trucks are blocked in both directions, and their drivers and passengers are forced to wait for hours on the spot until an inspection is carried out and the road is cleared.
About 37 people were traveling on the bus involved in the incident. According to initial information, there were no serious injuries among the passengers, despite the shock of the collision. Emergency teams immediately arrived at the scene and examined everyone present to ensure there were no hidden injuries. However, the bus driver was taken to the hospital for a more detailed examination. There is currently no official information regarding his condition.
Traffic stopped, drivers waiting for hours
The "Road Infrastructure" Agency (API) also confirmed the incident, announcing that traffic on road I-4 Sevlievo – Balvan, in the area of the accident, is temporarily restricted for all motor vehicles. Additional police teams have been sent to the scene to regulate traffic and direct cars to avoid further incidents.
