Ceremonial Session in Burgas: Honorary Citizens, Awards and a Look to the Future

At a Ceremonial Session in Burgas, six new Honorary Citizens were honored, key awards were presented, and the mayor outlined the city's future priorities. The Honorary Citizens include emblematic figures from the fields of culture, science, and public life.

At today's ceremonial session of Burgas Municipality, outstanding individuals who have significantly contributed to the city's development were honored. Six people received the title of “Honorary Citizen”: actors Rusy Chanev and Dimitar Rachkov, artist Assoc. Prof. Dimo Kolibarov, Prof. Ivo Keremidchiev (posthumously), Alek Popov (posthumously), and Assoc. Prof. Nikolay Ralev.

In addition, two special awards were presented. The “Key to the Tower” was posthumously awarded to Teodor Stoev, and the “Medal for Worthy Service” was awarded to Zlatka Atanasova.

Mayor Dimitar Nikolov enthusiastically presented the future priorities of Burgas, emphasizing investments in education, infrastructure, and culture. He highlighted the importance of the children's hospital, the development of universities, and attracting young people. The mayor also emphasized the work on the Southern bypass, connectivity via a bridge over the lake, the new industrial zones, and the application for European Capital of Culture.

The Chairman of the Municipal Council, Mihail Hadjiianev, greeted those present with touching words about Burgas, its spirit and vision for the future, defining it as a city of the future.

The Regional Governor Vladimir Krumov also sent greetings, emphasizing the strong community of Burgas.

The event was a celebration of recognition for the people who shape Burgas.
