The Japanese Art Association announced the recipients of the Praemium Imperiale for 2025, honoring masters from five creative categories with a total prize fund of 15 million yen (approximately 92,000 euros).

In the "Performing Arts" category, the jury unanimously chose Belgian choreographer Anne Teresa de Keersmaeker, 65 years old, in recognition of her innovative approach to contemporary dance. Experts highlighted her exceptional ability to explore structural connections between musical genres and dance movement.

Serbian performance artist Marina Abramović, 78 years old, was honored in the "Sculpture" category for her revolutionary artistic experiments. The jury specially emphasized her ability to use the human body as a unique artistic medium, recalling her shocking performance "Rhythm 0" from 1974.

In the field of painting, the award was given to 66-year-old Peter Doig, a representative of contemporary figurative painting. His canvases are distinguished by bright colors and a mix of realistic and surrealistic elements.

The Architecture category was won by Portuguese master Eduardo Souto de Moura, known for impressive projects such as the Braga Stadium and the Paula Rego Museum in Cascais.

In the musical sphere, the distinction was awarded to 71-year-old Hungarian pianist András Schiff, recognized for his remarkable achievements as a soloist and conductor.

The official awards ceremony is scheduled for October 22 in Tokyo, where the global artistic community will gather to celebrate this year's Imperial Art Award recipients.
