A cold front will cross Bulgaria from west to east overnight into Monday and on Monday, forecasters say. It will bring thunderstorms, cooler weather and rain in many places. The showers will be short but at times heavy.
This report follows our earlier story on the rain, wind and cooling that will reach eastern Bulgaria from Monday.
Today's highs will be between 25C and 30C, with about 26C in Sofia. It will be mostly sunny and warm. Western Bulgaria will see more cloud and some rain, mostly in the mountains, possibly with thunder. A light wind will blow from the east-southeast.
Tonight clouds will move in from the west and thicken. The wind will be mostly light, from the south-southeast. Lows will be between 12C and 17C, with about 12C in Sofia. In the east, visibility will be reduced in the morning, but only in a few places.
Tomorrow, Sunday, the eastern half of the country will see broken high and medium cloud. The wind will be moderate to strong, mostly from the south. It will stay warm there, with daytime highs of 27C to 29C.
In western Bulgaria it will be very cloudy and rain will start, at times heavy in places, with thunder. Temperatures will fall slightly, with highs of 20C to 22C and about 21C in Sofia. In the afternoon the wind will turn to the northwest.
It will also rain in the mountains of western Bulgaria, at times heavily in places, with thunder. Over the mountains in the eastern half of the country, cloud will be broken, medium and high. The wind will be moderate from the south-southwest, and strong in places on northern slopes. Highs will be about 19C at 1,200 metres and about 11C at 2,000 metres.
On the Black Sea coast tomorrow it will be mostly sunny, with highs of 22C to 25C. High cloud will increase in the afternoon. The wind will be light to moderate from the southeast. Sea state will be 2 and the water about 20C.
The wind will turn northwest and strengthen, bringing in cold air. Lows overnight into Monday will be 10C to 15C, and Monday's highs will be 17C to 22C.
After a short break, rain will return to many places on Tuesday and Wednesday. In some areas, mainly in central and eastern Bulgaria, there is a high chance of heavy rain that will be intense for a time. The wind will be from the north and moderate, strong in the east.
The cooling will go on into Wednesday, when lows will be 5C to 10C and highs 11C to 16C.
