The National Toll Management is taking unprecedented actions to control driving on emergency lanes of Bulgarian highways. According to official data provided by the Road Police sector in Sofia ODMVR, violators will be subject to serious sanctions.
Chief Inspector Vladislav Pavliyanov revealed details about the mechanism for imposing penalties. For the first detected violation, drivers will receive a fine of 1000 leva and will have their driver's license suspended for a period of three months.
The control system includes 98 specialized points on highways, which allow precise tracking of violations. The information is processed extremely quickly - within 24 hours.
For repeated violations, sanctions become even stricter - six-month revocation of driving rights and a fine of 4000 leva. Experts emphasize that the emergency lane can only be used in two exceptional cases: a health problem of the driver or a passenger, or a technical malfunction preventing movement.
The procedure for identifying the violator includes several consecutive steps. Initially, a reference is made about the vehicle's ownership. Responsibility is borne either by the owner or by a user specified by them.
This is followed by serving an invitation through the Ministry of Interior bodies, with a two-week period given to the violator to appear for drawing up an act. If not appearing, the act is drawn up in absentia and served at the place of residence.
Toll cameras are equipped with modern technology that allows precise documentation of every violation. The system ensures that no attempt to circumvent the rules will go unnoticed.
The purpose of these strict measures is to improve road safety and prevent potential incidents caused by improper use of emergency lanes. Experts from the Ministry of Interior call on drivers to be responsible and follow the established rules.
The new regulations come into effect immediately, with sanctions to be applied consistently and uncompromisingly against all violators.
