Burgas is on its way to being among the few municipalities in Bulgaria with a strategic document in the field of culture, developed after a detailed study and dialogue with creative communities. The strategy aims to activate the local symbolic capital and integrate it into the life of the city.

The document, prepared by a team with leading participation from Dr. Lyubomir Kutin, Dr. Nevena Dobreva, and Assoc. Prof. Dr. Todor Yalamov, summarizes the achievements and challenges. The main tools for implementation are planning, transparency, and public dialogue.

The strategy defines priorities and measures, in line with national traditions and the specifics of the region. It includes three priorities: horizon, networks, inclusion, and 15 measures, including the improvement of planning, debate, capacity building, debuts of young artists, a creative destination, culture for all, cultural heritage, joint archives, and transformation with art.

Developed in the context of the candidacy for European Capital of Culture, the strategy aims to attract resources and partnerships. The project has been published on the website of Burgas Municipality and on the Public Consultation Portal, with proposals being accepted until March 13. The document is part of a project under the National Recovery and Resilience Plan.
