The Ministry of Agriculture and Food is taking swift action to support farmers who have suffered significant losses in recent fires. Dr. Georgi Takhov, Minister of Agriculture, will convene an extraordinary meeting of the Management Board of the State Fund "Agriculture" on August 18, 2025, with the specific aim of approving emergency financial assistance.
Financial support will be provided through the "de minimis" mechanism, with the maximum individual compensation amount set at 50,000 euros for a period of three consecutive tax years. The aid will be distributed differentially, taking into account the specific damages of each individual farmer.
Expert commissions, including representatives from the Regional Agriculture Directorates, are currently conducting detailed inspections and documenting the damage caused. The compensation will cover losses related to destroyed agricultural produce, dead livestock, bee colonies, and destroyed feed.
Agricultural producers are required to submit an official notification to the respective regional directorates of the State Fund "Agriculture" within 15 working days after the incident is concluded. This is a mandatory condition for receiving financial compensation.
The Ministry emphasizes that this support mechanism is applied precisely in emergency and extremely difficult circumstances that threaten the normal functioning of the agricultural sector. The main goal is rapid recovery and support for affected farmers.
