A dramatic rescue flight shook medical circles in Northwestern Bulgaria, when a six-month-old girl from the mountain town of Varshets was urgently transported by air ambulance to the capital's neurosurgery at Pirogov Hospital.

According to official information from the Multi-Profile Hospital for Active Treatment "Dr. Stamen Iliev" in Montana, the incident occurred at home, without signs of intentional violence. The small child suffered a severe head trauma after an accidental fall on a cement surface, caused by an older child.

Medical specialists from the Montana hospital admitted the patient to the recovery ward and immediately took urgent measures for her transportation. The helicopter landing pad, opened in August 2024, was used for the third consecutive time, demonstrating its critical role in emergency medical interventions.
