Sozopol Municipality, in cooperation with the Consortium "Cleanliness Sozopol 2024", is restoring the free bulky waste (BW) collection service from October 1, 2025.
This is an important step towards improving cleanliness and the ecological environment in the municipality, after a period during which the service had obviously been discontinued. Its restoration will significantly alleviate the burden on citizens who have until now had to cope with the disposal of bulky waste themselves.
Bulky Waste
Bulky waste, as explained by the municipal administration, consists of large household waste – cabinets, boards, sofas, mattresses, armchairs, chairs, tables, carpets, rugs and similar items – whose size and weight prevent disposal in standard household waste containers. They require special collection and processing arrangements, which, as is clear, is not an easy task to manage individually.
Collection Schedule
The collection schedule is as follows:
- for the city of Sozopol – every Wednesday, first and third week of the month;
- for the city of Chernomorets – every Thursday, first and third week of the month;
- for the villages – upon request to the respective mayor's office.
The system is well-organized to cover all settlements in the municipality.
It is important to emphasize that the service is not intended for companies, hotels, complexes and catering establishments carrying out general repairs or equipment replacements. This is solely aimed at household waste from households.
Procedure
The procedure is simplified to two steps:
- First, it is necessary to submit a request for collection on any weekday between 8:30 and 12:30 and from 13:30 to 17:00.
- Second, the bulky waste must be placed in a convenient location with easy access for the specialized vehicle, no earlier than the collection day or the evening before.
Avoiding difficulties in accessing the waste is crucial for the efficiency of the service.
It is strictly forbidden to dispose of bulky waste in household waste containers or near them outside the specified schedule. Unauthorized disposal will be punished with sanctions. The municipality will monitor compliance with the rules and will take measures against violators. This is key to the success of the program to improve the ecological situation in Sozopol Municipality. Reliable adherence to the rules will ensure a cleaner and more pleasant environment for all residents.
