A total of 261 machines are processing the republican roads, the Road Infrastructure Agency (API) announced. Snow is falling in nearly half the regions of the entire country, more intense in the Vratsa, Montana, and Lovech regions, as well as on mountain passes.

Due to the heavy snowfall, the passage of heavy goods vehicles through the Troyan Pass is restricted, the road agency also said.

The treatment of road surfaces by snowplows continues, and the teams of road maintenance companies are taking the necessary actions to ensure traffic in winter conditions. To increase traffic safety and if necessary, individual sections may be closed for treatment of the routes with inert materials, the API warned. Where necessary due to strong wind, snowdrifts or poor visibility, traffic may be temporarily restricted until meteorological conditions improve and the road is cleared.

The API urges drivers to start with vehicles prepared for winter conditions, to drive at a speed appropriate for winter conditions, not to undertake risky maneuvers, as well as to overtake snowplowing equipment. Blocking traffic by vehicles that are not prepared for winter conditions makes it difficult for all other drivers to travel and for snowplowing equipment to work.

Sleet is falling on the Shipka Pass, two machines are continuously sanding the road from the north side, the duty teams of the Regional Road Administration - Gabrovo announced for BTA. Roads on the republican road network in the Lovech region are passable in winter conditions, the director of the Regional Road Administration, Eng. Georgi Genov, announced for BTA. In the Pleven region, the roads are passable in winter conditions. From 6:00 a.m. all available machines are processing the road network in the region, announced the regional governor, Eng. Martin Machev. The roads in the Kyustendil region are passable in winter conditions, the duty officer in the regional road administration said for BTA. At the moment, there are no restrictions on traffic on the roads in the region.
