16,000 property declarations of officials have been published
The National Audit Office has released the annual property and interest declarations of persons holding senior public positions. The documents cover declarations submitted by May 15, 2026, as well as introductory and final ones for the period January – August 2026.
The public data includes the declarations of the members of the caretaker government and the deputies elected in April 2026.
Who is on the list of non-compliant individuals?
In addition to the declarations, the institution has also published a list of 637 individuals who did not fulfill their obligation within the statutory deadline. They face serious sanctions:
- A fine of 500 to 1,500 euros for a first offense.
- A fine of 1,750 to 3,000 euros for a repeated offense.
What does the audit include?
Everything is declared – from real estate and vehicles to cryptocurrencies and shares in companies. The threshold for declaring receivables, liabilities, and income is over 5,000 euros. The audit is conducted in cooperation with the National Revenue Agency (NRA), the Property and Commercial Registers, the Traffic Police, and the Bulgarian National Bank (BNB).
In case of a discrepancy exceeding 5,000 euros, the case is referred to the NRA, and in the event of a discrepancy exceeding 12,500 euros, the Commission for Illegal Assets Forfeiture is notified.
