The Coordinating Council for the vote released the latest information about its organization. The caretaker Prime Minister Andrey Gyurov also participated in this final briefing.

Earlier this morning, he met with the Chief Secretary of the Ministry of Interior with summarized information. Over 1 million euros seized from vote buyers, which, according to the Chief Secretary, reported to Prime Minister Gyurov, is 300% more.

This morning the Chief Secretary reported to me that there is operational information about a huge amount of counterfeit euros that will be used to buy elections – that is, they not only want to distort the vote of Bulgarian citizens, but they also want to directly deceive them, said caretaker Prime Minister Andrey Gyurov.

According to Gyurov, the cabinet has made efforts so that every Bulgarian citizen can vote freely, without pressure and with the feeling that the state protects his right to choose.

Andrey Gyurov, caretaker Prime Minister: "First, we put an end to the dark rooms and the dark methods for controlling the vote. On Sunday, for the first time, voting will be done with screens. The screens preserve the secrecy of the vote, but put an end to photos, put an end to taking ballots out of pockets and to the use of any makeshift means to hit the correct box on the ballot. Second, we took a step towards true accessibility. We developed an application for people with visual impairments. Thus, they will be able to hear the lists in their section and make an informed and fulfilling choice. And, third, surely the most visible, we showed that the state is more organized than the vote buyers. The result is one million confiscated euros, and police actions continue in the last days before the elections."

The Prime Minister added that it depends on the Bulgarian citizens to invalidate the efforts of the buyers with their vote on Sunday, and that high voter turnout is stronger than all criminal schemes.

Andrey Gyurov, caretaker Prime Minister: "There is no hiding place, no drawer, no belt or candidate list that can hide those who want to distort and corrupt the vote of Bulgarian citizens and our future."

Both Deputy Interior Minister Ivan Anchev and the Ministry of Electronic Governance provided the latest summarized information, stating that the actions against vote buyers continue in the coming days.

Vanya Nusheva, advisor to the caretaker Prime Minister for the elections: “10,897 voting screens have been manufactured and provided to all municipalities. We have created QR codes that will allow for an easier informed choice for people with visual impairments. For greater security in the storage of election documents, seals with numbers on all ballot bags have been provided.

Ivan Anchev, Deputy Minister of Interior: “The number of signals received 4 days before the elections as of today, April 15, 2026, is 1743. For the same period - 4 days before the elections in 2024, these signals were 479, i.e. 3.6 times more. The total number of criminal proceedings initiated is 461 today, compared to 100 two years ago. The number of people detained today is 288, in the previous period it was 56."

Deputy Minister of Interior Ivan Anchev announced that 5,000 euros and 6,000 British pounds were seized, also intended for the purchase of votes.

The total amount for the organization of this vote will be 66 million euros.
