The Orthodox community in Bulgaria solemnly honors the memory of Saints Cyril and Methodius, whose spiritual and educational legacy continues to inspire generations. The church calendar marks this day as a significant moment for national identity, preserving the memory of the creators of the first Slavic alphabet.

Liturgical celebrations include special liturgical practices, among which an akathist performed by clergy and laity. Temples become an epicenter of spiritual unity, where the significance of linguistic and cultural heritage is presented.

The Plovdiv Metropolis organizes a solemn vespers service in the Cathedral of the Holy Mother of God, accompanied by a choral performance of Old Bulgarian church hymns. Sofia University, bearing the names of the holy brothers, actively encourages the academic community to participate in commemorative celebrations.

The holiday becomes a symbolic reaffirmation of the spiritual mission of Cyril and Methodius – their disciples Clement, Naum, Sava, Angelar, and Gorazd continue their work. People bearing the names of these saints also join the celebration, reinforcing a living connection with historical heritage.

This day reminds us of the exceptional role of the holy brothers as spiritual leaders, whose contribution transcends purely religious boundaries and becomes an essential element of national memory and cultural identity.
