On July 19, the weather in Bulgaria will be typically summer-like – predominantly sunny, with high daytime temperatures and a low probability of precipitation in most of the country. According to the weekly forecast of the National Institute of Meteorology and Hydrology, the day begins with sunny weather almost everywhere, while later, cumulonimbus cloudiness is expected mainly over the northwestern half and the Rhodopes, where short-term showers and thunderstorms are possible.

Burgas and the region

In Burgas, July 19 will be sunny and warm. The air temperature is expected to be between 21° and 29°, with predominantly clear skies. The probability of precipitation is very low – about 3%, with an expected rainfall amount of practically 0.0 mm, and cloudiness remains minimal throughout the day.

The wind over Burgas and the coast will be semi-strong, with a speed of about 9 m/s, mainly from northeastern directions. The sea water temperature near Burgas in mid-July is usually around 25–26°C, with slight to moderate sea state of 1–2 degrees. Under these parameters, the preliminary safety assessment for swimming along the Southern Black Sea coast and near Burgas is a green flag for July 19.

Sofia and the region

In Sofia and the surroundings, the weather on July 19 will be mostly sunny, with temporary increases in cloudiness in the afternoon. Maximum temperatures in the western part of the country, including the capital, will be in the range of 27°–30°, and minimums – around 16°–18°. The probability of precipitation in the Sofia field remains low, with more significant showers expected rather in the northwestern areas and along the mountain slopes.

The wind in the region will be weak to moderate, with predominantly western and northwestern components, without significant strengthening. There is no sea water in the region and no flag assessment applies, but conditions are good for walks and trips.

Eastern Bulgaria

In Eastern Bulgaria, including Northeastern and Southeastern Bulgaria, July 19 will begin with sunny weather. The wind in the eastern half of the country will remain predominantly southeastern, weak to moderate, and temperatures will remain higher – it will be hot in the Upper Thracian Plain.

Maximum temperatures in the eastern part will be between 28° and 32°, and minimums – around 18°–21°. The probability of precipitation in the eastern plains and the coast is small – under about 20%. The sea water temperature along the eastern coast, including near Varna and Shabla, will be in the range of 24°–26°C, with sea state of 1–2 degrees. For swimming along the eastern Black Sea coast, the guideline for July 19 is a green flag.

Western Bulgaria

In Western Bulgaria, including the Danubian Plain and the western mountainous areas, July 19 will have more dynamic weather. Already from the morning in the northwestern regions, significant cloudiness and precipitation are expected, and later in the day, cumulonimbus cloudiness will develop over the northwestern half of the country and the Rhodopes, where it will rain and thunder.

Temperatures in the western regions will be in the range of 27°–30°, but in the Danubian Plain, a drop in temperatures will begin from the west, while it will remain hot in the Upper Thracian Plain. The wind will gradually orient from the west and northwest, remaining weak, but with a tendency to strengthen in the coming days, when the cooling will continue. There is no sea water in these regions and no flag assessment applies, but caution is recommended regarding the development of thunderstorms.

In the mountains

In the mountain massifs on July 19, sunny weather will prevail in the morning, but later in the day, cumulus and cumulonimbus cloudiness will develop over the northwestern half of the country and especially over the Rhodopes, where short-term showers and thunderstorms are expected. Local more intense phenomena are possible, but will be limited in scope.

The maximum temperature at about 1200 m will be around 23°–25°, and at 2000 m – around 17°–19°, which provides good conditions for hiking while paying attention to afternoon thunderstorm processes. The wind on the ridges will be weak to moderate, orienting to the northwest and with a slight cooling in the coming days.

Black Sea Coast

Along the Black Sea coast on July 19, sunny and quiet weather will prevail, with typical summer temperatures. The wind along the coast will be weak to moderate, mainly from the southeast in the eastern half of the country. Maximum temperatures along the shore will be around 28°–30°, and minimums – around 20°–22°.

The sea water temperature along the entire coast, including near Burgas, Varna, and Balchik, will be around 25–26°C, with slight sea state (1–2 degrees). Under these conditions, the general preliminary safety assessment for swimming along the Bulgarian Black Sea coast on July 19 is a green flag, with standard caution recommended for strong sun and high UV index.
