Burgas and the region: warm, with a low but not zero probability of afternoon rain

On June 3 in Burgas and the region, the weather will be mostly sunny for most of the day. The maximum air temperature in the city will reach about 23°–25°, and in the hours around noon and early afternoon along the coast, values around 24° are expected. The morning will be cooler, with temperatures around 13°–15°.

The probability of precipitation is low during the first half of the day, but in the late afternoon, it is not excluded that cumulus clouds will develop and brief showers will fall, especially in the interior of the region. Overall, conditions remain favorable for walks and the beach, but the late afternoon may bring local brief rains.

The sea water temperature near Burgas on June 3 is about 20°, which provides relatively cool but acceptable swimming conditions for most people. The wind will be light to moderate, mainly from the southeast, with speeds around 2–4 m/s, and the sea state is expected to be slight to moderate.

In view of the cooler water, the possible afternoon showers, and the moderate sea state, the preliminary safety assessment for swimming in the Burgas area is "yellow flag" – swimming is permissible, but with increased caution, especially for children and people who do not swim confidently.

Sofia and the region: sunny, with cumulus clouds and a risk of afternoon showers

In Sofia and its surroundings on June 3, the weather will be mostly sunny during the first half of the day. In the morning hours, brief low clouds or light fog are possible in some lowland areas, which will quickly dissipate. The maximum temperatures in the capital will be around 26°–27°, and in the region – between 26° and 29°.

In the afternoon, mainly over Eastern Bulgaria and the mountainous regions, but partially over the Sofia field as well, cumulus and cumulonimbus clouds will develop. Brief showers and thunderstorms are possible, especially in the western parts of the region towards the evening hours. The wind will be light to moderate, mainly from the south-southeast, which will help the transport of warmer air.

In the Sofia region, where there are no sea beaches, the "flag" assessment for swimming does not apply, but conditions for walks and outdoor activities are good until the afternoon, when caution is recommended due to the possibility of brief thunderstorms.

Eastern and Western Bulgaria: warm, with typical June afternoon showers

In Western Bulgaria, the morning of June 3 will be mostly sunny, and temperatures will rise rapidly. The maximum values during the day will most often be between 26° and 31°, with significant cloud cover and precipitation that will intensify on the night into Thursday, especially in the western regions.

In Eastern Bulgaria, sunny weather will prevail during the day, but in the afternoon cumulus and cumulonimbus clouds will develop, and in some places, mainly in the northeastern and mountainous regions, there will be rain and thunder. Temperatures will be in similar ranges – from 26° to about 30°, with slightly cooler weather along the coast.

The wind in the western part will be light to moderate from the south-southwest, and in the eastern part – from the south-southeast. The probability of brief afternoon rains is moderate, typical for the beginning of June. For the interior of the country, the assessment for swimming in bodies of water is not formalized with a flag, but caution is recommended during thunderstorms and avoiding swimming in open bodies of water during lightning activity.

In the mountains: sunny until noon, then storm clouds and thunderstorms

In the mountainous regions on June 3, the weather will be mostly sunny in the morning hours. After noon, cumulus and cumulonimbus clouds will develop and in many places, it will rain and thunder. This applies most to the massifs of Stara Planina, Rila, Pirin, and the Rhodopes.

The maximum temperature at about 1200 meters will be about 20°, and at 2000 meters – about 13°, which provides relatively pleasant conditions for hiking, but an unstable atmosphere in the afternoon. A light to moderate southwesterly wind will blow, which may strengthen along the ridges.

For mountain lakes and water bodies, the swimming assessment is "red flag" – swimming is not recommended due to the low water temperature, rapidly changing conditions, and increased risk during thunderstorms. Tourists should plan their hikes so that they are out of the high parts of the mountains in the late afternoon.

The Black Sea coast: pleasant for the beach, but with a risk of afternoon storms

Over the Black Sea coast on June 3, mostly sunny weather will prevail, especially in the pre-noon hours. In the afternoon, cumulus and cumulonimbus clouds will develop, and in more places along the southern coast (including parts of the Burgas region) there will be rain and thunder.

The maximum temperatures along the coast will be between 22° and 25°, which makes the day pleasant for the beach and walks. The sea water temperature along the entire coast is about 19°–20°, with slightly higher values in more sheltered bays.

A light to moderate wind will blow from the southeast, and the sea state will be around 3 on the Douglas scale – noticeable, but without seriously hindering swimmers. In view of the relatively cool water, potential afternoon thunderstorms, and moderate sea state, the general safety assessment for swimming along the Black Sea coast on June 3 is "yellow flag" – permitted swimming with caution, especially upon the appearance of storm clouds and with stronger wind gusts.
