State Inspection at Varna Municipality
The National Construction Control Directorate (DNSC) and the Geodesy, Cartography and Cadastre Agency have launched a large-scale inspection at Varna Municipality, announced the Minister of Regional Development and Public Works, Ivan Shishkov. The main focus of the investigation is the "Baba Alino" case and suspicions regarding the issuance of fake certificates of tolerance.
"There is organized blindness in Varna. The fault does not lie with a single political force, but with the entire coalition that has been governing since the summer of 2023," stated Shishkov.
Serious Violations and Accountability
- Lack of documentation: In the "Baba Alino" area, there are no construction permits, regulation plans, or approved street regulations.
- The Cadastre as a tool: The head of the Cadastre Office in Varna is set to be dismissed, and the Prosecutor's Office will be notified due to the registration of illegal constructions.
- Institutional inaction: The Minister pointed out that ViK (Water and Sewerage) Varna showed "polite inaction" regarding the case, and a change in the company's management is also expected.
Shishkov was adamant that the demolition of illegal structures is the authority of the Mayor of Varna. The state will not take on this commitment so as not to create legally vulnerable documents that would be overturned in court. "Everyone involved in this case will bear responsibility, including criminal," he added.
