The capital's streets will be disrupted by an alarming sound on Tuesday. The Ministry of Interior informs citizens and all residents in the territories of the cities of Sofia, Burgas, Varna, Kardzhali, Montana, Pazardzhik, Pleven, Plovdiv, Ruse, Smolyan, Vratsa, and the settlements in the 30-kilometer zone around Kozloduy Nuclear Power Plant, Stara Zagora, and Galabovo about an upcoming siren system training. The event is scheduled for October 1st, with the sirens being activated precisely at 11:00 AM.
At this moment, in addition to the alarm signal and the end of the alarm, voice information will also be broadcast. The training will also include integrated local notification systems located in facilities that pose a potential risk of disasters.
This training aims to check the technical condition of the national system and increase the readiness of the population. In busy urban spaces, amidst the noise of traffic, the teams will be on alert for every step.
It is reminded that this system is tested twice a year. The training is traditionally held on the first working day of April and in October. This is done in accordance with the Ordinance on the conditions and procedure for the functioning of the National System for Early Warning and Notification of the executive authorities and the population in the event of disasters and for notification in the event of air danger. The purpose of these tests is complex: checking the technical condition of the siren system, improving the skills for operational activation of the system and broadcasting information in real time, as well as training the population to recognize the signals.
