The State Agency "National Security" (DANS), the Ministry of Interior (MIA), and the Ministry of Defense (MOD) have taken additional measures to ensure security in the area of "Lukoil" facilities in Bulgaria. The information was disseminated by the government information service, with the emphasis on the critical infrastructure on the territory of the country.

Against the backdrop of the sanctions imposed by the United States against the Russian company "Lukoil" and the incidents at the company's facilities in other European countries, the concern in ruling circles is palpable. Following a series of working meetings in the Council of Ministers (CM), attended by the management of the MOD, MIA, and security services, a number of preventive measures have been taken. The authorities' reaction appears cautious, focused on preventing potential risks.

The situation at the scene is tense. As if the tension hangs in the air, palpable to all those in the area.

Currently, an inspection of the security plan and measures in strategic facilities and zones of "Lukoil Neftohim Burgas" AD and "Lukoil-Bulgaria" EOOD is underway. In addition, DANS is conducting a thematic inspection to verify compliance with the requirements of the Classified Information Protection Act and the subordinate normative framework. This demonstrates the authorities' comprehensive approach to assessing the situation and strengthening control.

The MIA has been mobilized to ensure public order and to counter crime in the area of the company's facilities throughout the country. To support this work, the Ministry of Defense has pre-deployed an anti-drone system in the Burgas area. "Military Police" teams are also ready for action, prepared to assist the MIA in protecting strategic facilities. The press service explained the security measures to the media, demonstrating the state's determination to protect its strategic assets.

We remind you that on November 7, the parliament adopted legislative changes related to the figure of the special manager in "Lukoil". The National Assembly, within one sitting, in two readings, expanded the functions of the special commercial manager of a facility from the critical infrastructure in the country. These changes were made to the Law on the Administrative Regulation of Economic Activities Related to Oil and Petroleum Products, and concern the introduction of the figure of the special commercial manager of "Lukoil" assets in Bulgaria.
