The Swedish Ambassador Bids Farewell to Bulgaria: Dialogue on European Security and Cooperation

At an official diplomatic meeting held on 08/05/2025, Minister Georg Georgiev met with Swedish Ambassador H.E. Ms. Katarina Ragnit during her last diplomatic mission in Bulgaria. During the meeting, key aspects of bilateral relations and international cooperation were highlighted.

The Minister specifically noted the significant contribution of the Swedish side during the summer forest fires in Pirin, expressing gratitude for the provided specialized aircraft. This gesture demonstrates practical solidarity between the two countries in critical situations.

The conversation covered a wide range of strategic topics, including the joint position within the EU and NATO. The two diplomats emphasized mutual commitment to European security and the need for consolidated actions in contemporary geopolitical challenges.

Among the discussed priorities were support for Ukraine, regional security in the Black Sea region, and the European perspective of Western Balkan countries. Common positions on key international issues were confirmed.

At the end of the meeting, Ambassador Ragnit expressed gratitude for the fruitful cooperation with the Bulgarian Ministry of Foreign Affairs. Both sides expressed confidence that their diplomatic relations will continue to develop on the principles of mutual trust and shared values.
