A driver of a car with 4.46 per mille of alcohol has been detained, the Regional Directorate of the Ministry of Interior in Burgas announced. The police told BTA that this is an absolute record – such a high result has not been recorded in the Burgas region so far.

The driver is 37 years old from the village of Dobromir, Ruen municipality. He was detained two days ago when, driving a Peugeot 106 car, he was stopped for a check. This happened near block 218A in the Meden Rudnik complex. The alcohol content was established with a breathalyzer. The driver refused to give blood for chemical analysis. He has been detained with an arrest warrant for up to 24 hours. A fast-track proceeding has been initiated in the case.

The driver also has previous violations of the Road Traffic Act, related to driving without a license and speeding. In addition, he has been found twice to drive a motor vehicle after consuming alcohol up to 1.2 per mille.

BTA reminds that in March last year in Burgas, a driver with 4.33 per mille of alcohol was detained – a case that until now was considered one of the highest results recorded during such checks.

To this case, BTA recalls another one from the beginning of this year, when a driver with 3.80 per mille of alcohol was found in Aytos. Then, the 49-year-old man was stopped for a check in the area of Gotse Delchev St. He was detained, and his Opel Astra car was seized.
