The Free Arts School at the Prof. Pancho Vladigerov National School of Music and Dance Arts in Burgas is looking for students in grades 10 to 12 for a new sound engineering course. Sign-up began on 19 October and is open to students from all schools in Burgas and the region.
Sound engineering means working with sound, from recording it to processing it. The school says the course is a first step towards a career in professional sound engineering and helps young people turn an interest in music into skills they can use.
Students will learn the basics of professional sound recording and microphone techniques, meaning how to use a microphone when recording. They will also learn sound mixing, which puts separately recorded voices and instruments together in one recording. They will put what they learn into practice.
Classes are held in a studio with modern audio equipment. The teacher is Mariyan Raynov.
The course is for high school students who are thinking of working in the field. The school says it gives a good base for applying to Sofia University "St. Kliment Ohridski", including its Burgas branch, which offers a degree in music media technology and sound engineering. Another option is the Prof. Pancho Vladigerov National Academy of Music, which offers a degree in sound engineering, sound and media design.
Sign-up for the school's other subjects is open at the same time.
In October we reported that fourth-year students of music media technology and sound engineering at the Burgas branch of Sofia University are creating a library of sounds of Burgas and the region. The first recordings have already been made.
Parents and students can get more information and sign up through the Free Arts School or the Facebook page of the National School of Music and Dance Arts in Burgas.
