The annual maintenance of the sixth power unit of Kozloduy NPP concluded today. The unit was connected to the country's electricity system at 17:21 after an inspection and a positive assessment issued by the Nuclear Regulatory Agency, the nuclear power plant announced.
As part of the planned maintenance, which began on October 25, 2025, the systems and equipment were checked and serviced, as well as all necessary activities provided for in the annual maintenance program. The implemented measures are aimed at increasing safety and ensuring the long-term operation of the unit. The reactor has been refueled with fresh nuclear fuel for the 31st fuel campaign.
According to the technological regulations, the loading of the sixth power unit is carried out in stages.
The fifth unit of Kozloduy NPP is operating in accordance with the electricity production schedule.
BTA recalls that during the summer, the sixth unit of Kozloduy NPP was shut down for the implementation of planned maintenance activities related to a coolant leak in the third steam generator. The decision to shut down was then taken conservatively to ensure the necessary high safety of the unit and reliable electricity supplies.
