Preparation for the 2023 Summer Season on the Northern Black Sea Coast
Mayors along the Northern Black Sea coast are fully prepared to welcome tourists, stated Minister of Tourism Ilin Dimitrov following a working meeting in Varna. The main focuses for the upcoming summer are security and the quality of services.
"Varna and the entire region remain a destination where safe and high-quality tourism can be practiced," the minister emphasized.
Key Security and Cleanliness Measures
- Water quality: Regional health inspections confirm the excellent condition of the seawater. An interactive map for monitoring indicators in real-time is set to be created.
- Security: The deployment of police officers from various countries has been secured.
- Healthcare: Provision of medical teams in resort areas.
Reforms in the Tourism Sector
The Ministry is launching the creation of a Tourism Reform Council, which will work on five main pillars: hoteliers, restaurateurs, tour operators, concessionaires, and tour guides/animators. The goal is to quickly resolve long-standing problems in cooperation with businesses.
Staffing and Air Connections
The minister noted that over 150,000 people work in the sector, and while the import of personnel (around 20,000) is important, the priority remains the development of Bulgarian specialists. Regarding aviation – there is no data on mass flight cancellations, and for some markets, there is even growth reported.
