The coordination center for the Eurozone mechanism will give its regular weekly briefing today at 11:00 a.m. in the building of the Council of Ministers, the government press service announced.
During the briefing, Vladimir Ivanov, Chairman of the State Commission on Commodity Exchanges and Markets and Chairman of the coordination center, presents current data on the process of introducing the euro in Bulgaria.
The process of adopting the euro in Bulgaria can be considered completed, as the institutions are currently dealing with technical issues regarding the withdrawal of the remaining money supply in leva, which is outside the cash registers of the Bulgarian National Bank, commented Vladimir Ivanov at the briefing on March 9. The whole process went very smoothly, maybe we are the best in this direction, said Ivanov, pointing out that there are almost no problems regarding the exchange of leva into euros.
Ivanov also noted that the value of the consumer basket has remained at 57 euros for the third week.
At the briefing then, the Chairman of the National Statistical Institute (NSI), Atanas Atanasov, announced that the monthly inflation in February compared to January, according to the preliminary assessment of the NSI, is 0.3 percent, and the annual inflation is 3.3 percent according to the consumer price index. Regarding the monthly inflation compared to the HICP, it is noted that in February it was only 0.1 percent, with inflation being lower only in Cyprus, and in Slovakia and Portugal it is equal to that in Bulgaria, he added.
