Nearly 750 hunters will have the opportunity to practice their hobby during the current hunting season, reported the chairman of the Hunting and Fishing Association "Samokov" Petar Djelepov to regional media. The ceremonial opening of the season was held with a rich festive program on Saturday, August 9.
The celebration took place in the historic Beleva Church, where over 400 representatives of the hunting community were gathered. The official blessing was performed by Father Lyubomir, who blessed the association's flags and its ten hunting groups, offering a blessing for health and safety.
The association marked the remarkable 130-year history of its existence. Among the official guests was the Deputy Minister of Agriculture and Food Stoyan Toshev, who emphasized the significance of the hunting community and its contribution to nature conservation.
Petar Djelepov pointed out that hunting is not an ordinary hobby, but a true calling that requires responsibility, discipline, and constant care for wildlife. He thanked the Samokov Municipality and the church council for their support in organizing the celebration.
Special attention was given to the official recognition from the National Hunting and Fishing Association. The chief editor of the union's media, Kalin Parvanov, presented an honorary plaque to Petar Djelepov as a sign of respect for the organization's long-standing activity.
The Mayor of Samokov, Angel Djorgov, sent a congratulatory address, further emphasizing the importance of the local hunting community. Statistical data show that the association has 11 hunting groups and manages 38 hectares of hunting area.
Traditionally, the organization accepts about ten new members each year, which ensures continuity and development of hunting in the region. The total number of hunters in the Samokov area amounts to about 700 people.
