The Burgas Administrative Court overturned the order to halt part of the production of the large wood processing enterprise, which is claimed to be a major air polluter in Veliko Tarnovo. This was announced to BNT by the outgoing Minister of Environment and Water, Manol Genov.
The decision came late today, after the company appealed against a compulsory administrative measure by RIOSV - Veliko Tarnovo to halt the production line for particleboard panels.
The factory had until Sunday to safely shut down the equipment, after which it would be sealed by experts from the environmental inspection. The decision to overturn the compulsory measure is subject to appeal to the Supreme Administrative Court.
Manol Genov, outgoing Minister of Environment and Water: "I assume that the Regional Inspectorate of Environment and Water in Veliko Tarnovo will appeal this measure, because nowhere in the reasoning is there a single word about people's health and its protection. I respect every investment, I understand the employers are dissatisfied, I also understand the dissatisfaction in the labor collective that works there, but still, for me, the health and lives of people are more valuable."
