Russia hit Ukraine with 36 ballistic missiles and 172 drones overnight into 7 November, and energy was again the main target, Zelensky said. The strikes hit 13 regions. Nine people were wounded, including a child.
Only four of the missiles were shot down. In Kyiv, apartment blocks, the North Bridge and a kindergarten were damaged, and power, water and heating were disrupted.
Kyiv
Fires broke out in the Solomianskyi district, and some buildings were destroyed. At one address, part of the first-floor façade of a five-storey apartment block was destroyed, but there was no fire and no one was hurt. At three more addresses, the blast wave broke windows in five-storey buildings, and one person was wounded.
A two-storey building on the grounds of a kindergarten was also destroyed. Elsewhere, a parked truck and a non-residential building caught fire, and the blaze has been put out. At two more addresses, two people were wounded, one of them a child. In all, three people were hurt in the capital.

Energy sites in Kyiv region and six more regions
In Kyiv region, the strikes hit substations that link the Rivne and Khmelnytskyi nuclear power plants with Kyiv and central regions. Substations were also damaged in the Vinnytsia, Zhytomyr, Rivne, Kharkiv and Dnipropetrovsk regions. Besides Kyiv, twelve other regions were hit.
Kyiv region was the main target of the attack. The air force says air defences shot down or jammed 4 missiles and 149 drones, 117 of them jet-powered. It reports hits at 24 locations and falling debris at 10 more.
Missiles and a lack of interceptors
Zelensky said one of the big problems remains a shortage of missiles for Patriot systems. "Unfortunately, a significant shortage of interceptors for the Patriots remains, and the United States above all can make up for it," he said. Ukraine is working with the US to speed up deliveries.
The strike sites are still being examined. Early information suggests Russia used North Korean KN-23 ballistic missiles in a strike on one of the most important energy sites. Zelensky asked for more sanctions on the countries and companies that help Russia keep fighting. On 4 November he discussed with German defence minister Boris Pistorius how to get PAC-2 missiles sooner. Ukraine already has a contract for them for the next two years.
Komyshuvakha
The death toll from the Russian air strike on Komyshuvakha in Zaporizhzhia region on 2 November has risen to 55. Rescuers pulled the bodies of nine more people from the rubble in the past 24 hours. Last night the toll was 53. The dead include civilians, rescuers and police officers who came to help the injured.
At 09:45 on 2 November, two Russian air bombs hit the Dzherelo school, where local people were getting humanitarian aid, and destroyed the sports hall and an outbuilding. About an hour later, another FAB-3000 bomb fell on the underground room that housed the shelter point and the bunker. Around 30 more bodies may be under the rubble, and DNA samples have been taken from relatives of the missing.
Ukrainian military intelligence says it has identified the Russian military personnel involved in the strike. It says Colonel Fyodor Zubakov of the staff of the Russian "Dnepr" group of forces planned the operation, and four Su-34 aircraft took part in the bombing.
