Russia attacked Ukraine overnight on 25 October with 153 Shahed attack drones, 92 of them jet-powered, as well as Gerbera drones, S8000 Banderol drones and Parodiya decoys, the Air Force says. Three people died in strikes on the Dnipropetrovsk region. In total, 21 people were hurt there and in Vinnytsia.
Overview of the attack
By 08:00, air defences had shot down or jammed 119 drones, 64 of them jet-powered. Nine attack drones were still in the air, and units were still working to stop them. Drones hit 15 places, and debris from downed drones fell on 9 more.
Aircraft, anti-aircraft missile units, electronic warfare units, unmanned systems and mobile fire groups all helped repel the attack.
Vinnytsia
A Russian drone hit a five-storey apartment block in Vinnytsia. The damage is between the second and third floors. Four flats were completely destroyed, and cars parked nearby were damaged.
Six people were hurt, one of them in hospital, regional governor Nataliia Zabolotna said. Rescuers are clearing the rubble. More than 60 people and 14 vehicles are at the scene, and all fires are out.
A private care home for elderly people was also damaged. Fifteen people were moved out, and a rescue service psychologist worked with them. Across the region, the strikes also damaged critical and civilian infrastructure and private houses.

Dnipropetrovsk region
Russian forces struck three districts of the region more than 20 times. The State Emergency Service says three people died and 15 were hurt, including an 11-year-old girl.
The Synelnykove district was hit hardest. All three deaths were there, 14 people were hurt, and houses, shops and cars were damaged. In the Nikopol district, a man was hurt and a private house was damaged. In Dnipro, infrastructure was damaged. Rescuers put out all fires after the strikes.
Russia has been waging a full-scale war on Ukraine since February 2022 and hits cities and villages with drones every night.
