The commander of the Ukrainian armed forces warned of intensifying Russian activity around the key front-line city of Pokrovsk, stating that "the situation is difficult".
General Oleksandr Syrskyi acknowledged that Russian infantry is concentrating in the area and shared that he personally visited the front line for talks with key commanders. The general added that he assessed the situation on the ground and discussed the necessary measures to strengthen the defense.
At the same time, the general categorically rejected reports that Ukrainian troops were "blocked" there by Russian forces, calling these claims "false" propaganda. Nevertheless, tensions remain high.
For some time now, reports of Russian advances have been increasing around the strategic city in the Donetsk region, in eastern Ukraine. Pokrovsk is a key transport and supply hub, and its capture could open doors for Russian efforts to control the rest of the region. The atmosphere on the ground is tense. Increased movement of military equipment and troops can be seen. People who have not left the city are awaiting the next events. Uncertainty and anxiety are felt in the eyes of passersby.
