Russian armed forces carried out a large-scale air strike on a prison in the Zaporizhzhia region, killing 16 people and wounding over 30 people, Ukrainian official sources reported.

The nighttime attack, conducted with eight high-explosive gliding aviation bombs, in addition to human casualties, also caused serious damage to neighboring residential buildings. Regional leader Ivan Fedorov confirmed the scale of destruction and emphasized the brutalism of the Russian military operation.

Andriy Yermak, head of the presidential staff, qualified the attack as another "war crime" committed by Russian occupation forces. Zaporizhzhia is one of the four eastern regions that Russia claims to have annexed after 2022, although the region remains under Ukrainian control.

The Ukrainian ombudsman pointed out that the attack on a prison institution represents a gross violation of international humanitarian law, as imprisoned persons do not lose their right to life and protection.

Parallel to this incident, President Donald Trump issued a sharp diplomatic order to Moscow, warning that Russia has "about 10-12 days" to achieve a ceasefire, otherwise massive sanctions will be imposed.

In addition to the attack in Zaporizhzhia, Russian strikes continued in other regions of Ukraine. In the Dnipropetrovsk region, additional casualties were recorded during missile and drone shelling. In the industrial city of Kamyanske, two people were killed and five were wounded.

Regional leader Sergey Lysak reported a fatality and several wounded in the Synelnykove district, with one of the most tragic cases being the death of a 75-year-old woman and the wounding of a 68-year-old man by a direct hit on their home.

The Russian offensive continues with claims of capturing the village of Maliyivka in the Dnipropetrovsk region, although the Ukrainian side denies this information. Meanwhile, Russian sources reported Ukrainian drone attacks in the Rostov region, with human casualties.

The escalation of military actions continues, with both sides registering losses and damages, which puts into question the possibilities for a quick diplomatic resolution of the conflict.

The international community is following the development of military actions with growing concern, with pressure to achieve a ceasefire increasing through various diplomatic channels.
