Russia attacked Ukraine overnight into Sunday, 8 November, with three missiles and 164 attack drones, the Ukrainian Air Force said. One person was killed in Odesa. In Zaporizhzhia, a drone hit rescuers working at the site of an earlier strike, but this time no one was hurt.

Missiles and drones

The missiles were three Kh-59/69 guided air-launched missiles, fired from the Sea of Azov area. The drones were Shaheds, 112 of them jet-powered. Gerbera drones and Parodiya decoys flew with them. They were launched from Oryol, Kursk, Millerovo and Primorsko-Akhtarsk in Russia, from occupied Donetsk and from Gvardeyskoye in occupied Crimea.

By 8am, air defences had shot down or jammed 137 drones. Even so, there were hits at 23 locations, and debris fell at six more.

Odesa

Oleh Kiper, head of the regional military administration, said one person died in the overnight attack. An administrative building and an abandoned non-residential building were damaged.

In the morning, Russian forces also hit a food warehouse that had been attacked earlier. A large fire broke out. There are no reports of injuries, and all emergency services are at the scene.

Zaporizhzhia

A drone hit rescuers who were clearing the site of an air strike on a shelter in the region. The State Emergency Service said the attack was deliberate.

No one was hurt, but special vehicles were damaged. "The enemy deliberately targets those whose only weapon is saving lives," the service said.

In Komyshuvakha, the bodies of two more victims have been pulled from the rubble, bringing the death toll from the air strike to 55.
