Russian missiles and drones hit Ukraine overnight on 26 October. Ukraine's air force said preliminary data at 8:00 am showed air defences had shot down or jammed three missiles and 112 drones. Even so, strikes hit 15 places. Two people were wounded in the Chernihiv region and four in Zaporizhzhia. Russia has waged a full-scale war on Ukraine since February 2022.
Zaporizhzhia
Four people were wounded in Russian strikes on the city: two women, aged 22 and 30, and two men, aged 40 and 61. All of them received medical help.
Windows were broken in a hotel and two buses. Three cars and dry vegetation caught fire, and a private house and four outbuildings were damaged. Rescuers searched the hit areas for other victims, and utility crews are already repairing the damage.
Chernihiv region
Russian forces struck three districts in the region: Pryluky, Novhorod-Siverskyi and Koriukivka. Rescuers said two civilians were wounded and civilian infrastructure was damaged.
In the Pryluky district, a hangar owned by a private firm was hit and a man was wounded. In the Novhorod-Siverskyi area, a grain store caught fire and a woman was hurt. In the Koriukivka area, a large fire broke out in a warehouse.
What Russia used
Overnight, starting at 6:00 pm on 25 October, Russia fired one Kh-31P anti-radar missile and three Kh-59/69 guided air missiles. They were launched from occupied parts of the Zaporizhzhia and Kherson regions. Russia also sent 140 Shahed strike drones, 70 of them jet-powered, along with Gerbera drones and Parodiya decoy drones.
The drones flew from the directions of Oryol, Kursk, Shatalovo and Millerovo in Russia, and from Hvardiiske in occupied Crimea. All three Kh-59/69 missiles and 112 drones, 56 of them jet-powered, were shot down or jammed. Besides the hits in 15 places, debris from downed targets fell in four places. Aircraft, anti-aircraft missile units, electronic warfare units, unmanned systems and mobile fire groups repelled the attack.
