Bulgaria ceases direct arms donations to Ukraine
After 13 packages of military support, Bulgaria has reached the limit of its capabilities to provide assistance from the resources of the Armed Forces. This was stated by Prime Minister Rumen Radev in response to a parliamentary question from Nikolay Denkov.
"With a view to maintaining the necessary resources for the defense of the country, I believe that our country has reached the threshold of its capabilities," the Prime Minister asserted.
Key highlights from Radev's position:
- National security: Further donations would compromise the combat capability of the Bulgarian Army.
- Fiscal constraints: The excessive deficit procedure initiated by the EC limits the possibilities for financial aid.
- Military-technical support: Ceasing donations from army warehouses does not mean the end of the work of the Bulgarian defense complex.
- Diplomacy: Radev emphasized that the government relies on diplomatic tools to achieve lasting peace, denying any discrepancies in the positions of the relevant ministers.
According to the Prime Minister, it is extremely important for the EU to actively participate in the peace process so that the architecture of future security in Europe is not decided without the participation of the Union and Ukraine.
