Rosen Zhelyazkov and Congressman Pat Fallon discussed the strategic partnership between Bulgaria and the US, emphasizing defense, energy, and cooperation in the field of artificial intelligence. Visa-free travel and joint projects were also discussed.

The strategic partnership between Bulgaria and the US was a key topic of the meeting between caretaker Prime Minister Rosen Zhelyazkov and Congressman Pat Fallon.

During the meeting at the Council of Ministers, Zhelyazkov emphasized the importance of bilateral relations in the areas of defense and energy. Emphasis was placed on efforts to achieve a common goal for global and regional peace, stability, and prosperity.

Zhelyazkov recalled the Third Session of the Strategic Dialogue between Bulgaria and the US, which marked progress in energy diversification, defense, security, trade and investments, as well as the aspiration to elevate the partnership to a higher level.

The caretaker Prime Minister pointed to defense as the backbone of the strategic partnership, appreciating the US support for the modernization of the Bulgarian armed forces. He emphasized Bulgaria's commitment to NATO.

Zhelyazkov also highlighted efforts to strengthen energy security, especially in the context of cooperation with the US to ensure diversified energy supplies, confirming the commitment to the Kozloduy NPP project.

In addition, issues related to new technologies, innovation, artificial intelligence and sustainability were discussed.

Zhelyazkov recalled Bulgaria's priority for joining the US Visa Waiver Program.

GERB leader Boyko Borissov also met with the congressman, discussing opportunities to deepen cooperation, with the participation of the caretaker ministers of foreign and internal affairs.
