Pomorie with international recognition for environmental management
The fishing port in Pomorie is once again among the facilities awarded the international "Blue Flag" environmental certificate. This is the second consecutive year that the facility has received this prestigious recognition, establishing itself as an example of sustainable development on the Bulgarian Black Sea coast.
The award is granted to ports that meet high standards for environmental management, safety, and the quality of services provided.
Modern infrastructure and environmental innovations
Built with an investment of nearly 11.7 million BGN, the port offers a capacity of 120 berths and a modern base that includes:
- A system for freezing unwanted catch
- A composting installation for seaweed
- A gas station and repair hall
- Video surveillance and provided utility services (electricity, water, internet)
The facility is designed to ensure the necessary depth for vessels up to 25.50 m in length to enter, facilitating the maneuvering of fishing ships and boats.
The future of the port
The modernization does not stop here. With funding under the Maritime, Fisheries and Aquaculture Program 2021-2027, the construction of a floating breakwater, a new pontoon pier, and the purchase of specialized waste management equipment are upcoming. These steps ensure that the port will continue to meet the highest European standards in the sector.
