The popular fintech platform Revolut officially announced that it is discontinuing support for accounts in Bulgarian levs. The key date for all Bulgarian users is December 17, 2025, when accounts in BGN will be automatically closed, and the available funds - converted at the fixed rate of 1 EUR = 1.95583 BGN to newly opened euro accounts. No action is required on the part of the customers, and the currency conversion will be completely free.

As of November 27, it will no longer be possible to send bank transfers in levs, and as of December 10, receiving such transfers will also be stopped. Revolut explains that this change is technically necessary due to Bulgaria's transition to the euro and system updates from payment partners.

The transition will not affect the other services, cards and digital wallets of Revolut - they will continue to function without change. Profile data and usage history are saved. Almost 700,000 Bulgarians use the platform, which ranks among the most preferred fintech services in our country.

The company emphasizes that all conversions will be made automatically, without fees and with full transparency. In case customers have not yet opened a euro account, Revolut will create one automatically for them. Using the service in euros will allow Bulgarian customers to take advantage of even more flexible international transfers and card payments.

This decision is part of the large-scale preparation of the Bulgarian financial system for the official introduction of the euro as a national currency from January 1, 2026, which requires all institutions to synchronize their processes.
