The first stage of the rebuild of the upper part of Aleksandrovska Street in Burgas is due to finish by spring 2027, Burgas council said. Its first announcement had given spring next year as the deadline.
The first stage covers the section from Vasil Levski Street to Probuda Street. The second will start after the Eurovision Song Contest, which Burgas will host.

The street will be fully rebuilt as a pedestrian zone. Water pipes and sewers will be replaced. There will be tactile strips for blind and partially sighted people, rest areas and new lighting.
It will look like the other main streets in Burgas. No trees will be removed.
The council says the asphalt is cut up by frequent repairs to water and sewer lines, the pavements are warped and the tiles are broken. It says it has been ready to start work for a long time.
The repairs have long been awaited. The first plan was stopped and redrawn after disputes over how the street should look.
