From today until the end of the workday, drivers traveling on the Struma motorway in the direction of Kulata should prepare for significant difficulties. Traffic in the section between the 152nd and 163rd kilometer of the motorway has been changed in connection with repair works, the Road Infrastructure Agency (RIA) announced.

The change, which is in effect from 8:00 a.m. to 6:00 p.m., was introduced in stages, with traffic being rerouted to the active lane. The reason is the replacement of lighting fixtures at four key road junctions located in this section of the motorway. The repair works affect the Novo Delchevo, Petrich-Melnik (between the 152nd and 153rd kilometer), General Todorov (at the 159th kilometer) and Marikostinovo (between the 160th and 163rd kilometer) junctions.

Due to the work of the road crews, passage on the overtaking lane will be restricted, and the speed of movement in these zones will be reduced to 90 km/h. This is a necessary measure to ensure the safety of all road users.

RIA apologized to drivers for the inconvenience caused, but emphasized that the measures are necessary to improve traffic safety. The agency urged drivers to show patience and responsibility, strictly adhering to the placed road signs and driving carefully. The appeal also includes maintaining the necessary distance, driving at an appropriate speed and avoiding risky overtaking that could endanger both their safety and that of other travelers.

The introduction of this change in traffic is happening against the background of already active innovations on the national road network. Since September 7, section control has been introduced in certain sections, designed to measure the average speed of movement. These measures are part of the efforts to improve road safety in the country and reduce incidents.
